Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Zern ("we", "our", or "us") is a personal AI planner application developed and operated by Aksel / TOXEQ. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Zern mobile application and website at zern.toxeq.com.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you sign in with Google or email/password, we receive your email address and, where applicable, your display name and profile picture from Google. This is managed by Firebase Authentication (Google LLC).

2.2 Planner Data

If you are signed in, your planner data — including tasks, schedule entries, tags, and your profile preferences (name, goals, sleep schedule) — is synced and stored in Firebase Cloud Firestore under your unique user ID.

2.3 AI Interactions

When you interact with the Zern AI assistant, your message and relevant planner context are sent to our backend proxy (Cloudflare Workers), which forwards the request to Groq's language model API. We do not permanently store your chat messages on our servers. Chat history is stored locally on your device only.

2.4 Usage Data

We do not collect analytics or track app usage beyond what Firebase provides by default (e.g. anonymous crash reports if crash reporting is enabled in future).

3. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and identify your account across devices.
• To sync and restore your planner data across devices.
• To personalise AI responses with your planner context and profile.
• To respond to account deletion or support requests you initiate.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

5. Data Retention

Your planner data is retained in Firestore for as long as your account exists. Local data (offline planner, chat history) remains on your device until you uninstall the app or clear app storage.

If you delete your account, all data stored by us (Firestore documents, Firebase Auth record) is permanently and irreversibly deleted within minutes.

6. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption). Firebase Authentication uses industry-standard OAuth 2.0 and JWT tokens. Your API requests are authenticated server-side — the AI API key is never exposed to clients.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access – request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Deletion – permanently delete your account and all associated data via the Account Deletion page.
• Portability – your planner data is stored as standard JSON.
• Contact us – for any privacy concern via our Support page.

8. Children's Privacy

Zern is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us to remove it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Zern after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
